The Department of Electrical Engineering, established in 2002, initially offered a B. Tech program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. To diversify and provide industry-oriented training at the postgraduate level, the department introduced M. Tech courses in Power Electronics in 2010. Currently, research efforts are focused on various areas within Electrical Engineering, such as Power Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Converters, High Voltage Engineering, Control Systems, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Renewable Energy Resources, Electric Vehicles, and software tools like ETAP, MATLAB, Ansys, and Python.
The department has a dedicated team of twenty regular faculty members who are highly experienced and actively engaged in research. It is also well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and supported by qualified technical staff. Additionally, the department’s undergraduate programme is accredited by the NBA, tier-II up to 2022.
Dr. K. Prasada Rao is the Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at TKR College of Engineering & Technology (TKRCET), Hyderabad. He has over 26 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He is currently serving as the Head of the Department (HoD) and Chairman of the Board of Studies (BoS) for the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at TKRCET.Dr. K. Prasada Rao completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from JNTU Hyderabad in 1996. He obtained his Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Power Electronics from JNTU Hyderabad (JNTUH) and subsequently earned his Ph.D. from JNTUH in 2019.
He has made significant contributions to academic administration, curriculum development, NBA and NAAC accreditation processes, and research coordination. He has published more than 30 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. His research and academic interests include Smart Grid Technologies, Renewable Energy Systems, Power Electronics, and Smart City Applications. He continuously enhances his professional expertise through prestigious NPTEL certifications offered by IITs and IISc, covering advanced topics such as Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Computer Networks, and other emerging technologies. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
